Community Development

Our VISION is focused on working with citizens and the Shreveport Community Development Department to make Shreveport a WORLD CLASS city by:

  • Renovating/Reconstructing residential and commercial properties in under-served communities to solve the issue of scarcity in quality affordable housing for the working poor            

  • Partnering with Neighborhood Associations to implement the Shreveport Master Plan

  • Hosting annual HUD Conferences in Shreveport with the local, state, federal & corporate officials

  • Building equitable and lasting partnerships between the community, city and businesses in District B

  • Investing resources to resolve our infrastructural issues via water and sewer, streets, etc.

  • Educating citizens on the various programs offered in the Community Development Department

  • Ensuring that Federal CDBG Funds are appropriately disbursed to targeted inner-city communities

  • Partnering with the Student Government Association from Centenary College, and the Student

  • Councils from Byrd High School and Caddo Magnet High School to create an ‘Indigenous Human Capital Trust’ for the benefit of encouraging our young intellectual capital to live and work in Shreveport, and to become OUR FUTURE LEADERS

  • Working with credit unions and banks to develop a comprehensive plan for the ‘UNBANKED’

  • Advocating for critical Veteran Affairs issues and partnering with the VA Hospital to help Veterans
